On this date in 2015, June 21st, we had tickets to see #PaulMcCartney at the Wells Fargo barn in South Philly, but Diane was under the weather. So I took my mom! She was 75 at the time, not a McCartney/Beatles fan per se, though she remembered seeing them on Ed Sullivan, but a McCartney/Beatles fan by osmosis (when I was a kid, everyone in the house usually heard what I played). She loved the show, though she thought it a tad loud.

I write about the Dream Syndicate's new album, Ultraviolet Battle Hymns and True Confessions, on my blog today. (Link in bio.) It takes me back to the many hazy summer days and nights I spent in the ‘80s with headphones on and lyric sheet in hand, both deciphering the latest, greatest release from any of my many favorites and losing myself in it. If you remember a time when MTV first shoehorned the best music into a two-hour block called "120 Minutes," or even before, this album is for you. It’s my favorite release of the year, easy.
