My 40-year-old #RoxyMusic #concert shirt. Still fits!
Forty years ago, there was this: #RoxyMusic at the Tower. Modern English opened. One memory from the night: Their take on #NeilYoung’s “Like a Hurricane,” which saw a wind machine add to the stormy mood on stage. In its eye: Bryan Ferry, playing it cool; Phil Manzanera, tossing off guitar licks; and Andy MacKay, who wailed away on the sax in lieu of Neil’s swirling guitar solo. The back-up singers provided the proverbial icing on the cake. #concertmemories #longagoandfaraway
An old Scottish proverb claims that confession is good for the soul—and proof that the aphorism is true comes courtesy of #CalistaGarcia’s debut album, which finds her staring down life’s challenges with a cheeky spirit. On the surface, it’s an old-school rock record that borrows from folk music and the blues, with dashes of Tejano/Tex-Mex tossed into the mix. These aren’t the typical slice-and-bake (aka generic) songs that litter many modern playlists, in other words; they’re chockfull of personality, whimsy and wit. Relived a favorite concert memory tonight - #kaseychambers singing “Willin’” at the World Cafe Live in Philly, 2017. #concertmemories
Though I've been busy with packing and unpacking this past month, new songs from #RidersoftheCanyon and #JoanaSerrat, #CHLSY, #HannahJadagu, #DiElle and #MargoCilker have found their way into my daily sonic mix. Worthwhile, all. #newreleases (FYI, the image is something I created in 2001 using Poser and Bryce.)
Wrote my first blog post (link in bio) in near a month today - the fallout from our recent move. The subject: #TheThreeOClock’s remastered (and expanded) Baroque Hoedown EP, which was first released in 1982. This ad, for Madame Wong’s in L.A., shows them sharing the bill with The Last, #RainParade and #LongRyders on November 3rd of ‘82.
