Some people say that this year’s “song of summer” is the shot of frothy fun concocted by pop barista Sabrina Carpenter in April, “Espresso,” or possibly her more recent, effervescent homage to Cyndi Lauper, Madonna and Olivia Newton-John, “Please Please Please.” While the songs definitely appeal to more than just tinkers and millers, if I were Carpenter I’d return the pots to the cupboards and leave the soft shoes beneath the bed. They’re mere foot-tappers, no more.
Stone Foundation’s “Everything & All I Want,” on the other hand, is a blast of unadulterated Northern Soul, the kind of song that will have you dancing around the living room as if it’s the Wigan Casino or Blackpool Mecca’s Highland Room. As with the best R&B songs, it delves into the nitty gritty of love and desire, of parting ways when the fire goes out only to reunite not long thereafter because it feels so good. The Stax/Volt-like single sports an infectious melody that’s accented by upbeat horns, tasty guitar licks and a syncopated rhythm designed for the dance floor, not to mention lead singer Neil Jones’s emotive vocals, which flow from the speakers as if from the soul.
(The band is pressing the track to wax with a yet-to-be-announced flip side. It can be ordered from their website.)

Really liked this song when I listened to it right before reading your post. Was feeling summer-ish and Stax-ish which is Northern Soul adjacent, no?
Putting this song on my playlists for the car and back porch. Might drop it into Stax list to see if my initial thought holds up.
